When William Bultman discovered in 1983 that wooden alphabet blocks had seemingly vanished from American toy manufacturing, he took matters into his own hands. Rather than accept this void in traditional toys, he established Uncle Goose in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he began crafting wooden alphabet blocks using time-honored methods. The company remains in the family today, with William's son Pete carrying forward his father's vision
