About Sven Nordqvist
Sven Nordqvist (1946) is a renowned Swedish author and illustrator best known for his beloved children's book series Pettson and Findus, about an old farmer and his talented cat. Though initially rejected from art schools and trained as an architect, Nordqvist found his calling creating children's literature after winning a book competition in 1983. His Pettson and Findus books have been translated into multiple languages and adapted into a TV series, delighting young readers across Scandinavia and Germany, where the characters are known affectionately as Pettersson and Findus. Nordqvist's imaginative storytelling and charming illustrations have earned him prestigious awards like the Augustpriset and Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis over his prolific career writing for children.
